Self Controlled Areas Flight Segment Interpretation

Blue Rock Research is working with Texas A&M University and RTI International to build innovative avionics software that assists pilots in managing the complexity of air traffic management procedures.

The NASA Small Airport Transportation System (SATS) program is developing a Concept of Operations (CONOPS) and demonstration plan for High Volume Operations (HVO). Avionics software for conflict detection and alerting, procedure support, and conformance monitoring are important components of NASA's HVO solution. These functions require that the onboard software maintain information about the current procedure that each aircraft is performing in the new self-controlled areas.

Blue Rock Research is leading the effort to develop a Flight Segment Interpreter (FSI) in support of the NASA SATS program. The FSI technology is based on hypertrapezoidal fuzzy sets and can track the current flight procedure of ownship and surrounding traffic.
